Yellow Camellia Flower Tea Festival – the leverage to develop Ba Che economy
On 5th January 2018, the Yellow Flower Tea Festival with the theme “Gorgeous Yellow Flower Tea” will officially take place. This important event of the district to introduce, promote the featured products, the focus is the camellia chrysantha; to honor the cultural identity of ethnic groups. At the same time, it is the opportunity to introduce potentials, strengths of the locality to contribute to trade promotion, attract business and investment to Ba Che.
The first camellia chrysantha festival held in January, 2016 brought unexpected successes, attracting thousands of local people and visitors. The festival has helped Ba Che not only introduce the specialty of yellow flower tea, but also give visitors an unforgettable impression of a rich land in cultural history and agricultural products.
The value of camellia chrysantha with precious compounds that can inhibit the growth of tumors up to 33.8% and reduce blood cholesterol levels by up to 35%. In addition, this type of tea can also reduce the symptoms of atherosclerosis due to dyslipidemia, regulate blood pressure and treat cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, tumors.
Thanks to the festival, the tea tree has opened the market to other provinces outside the traditional market in the province and sold to Chinese traders.
Realizing the potential of growing yellow flower tea, Ba Che district has completed the plan to 2020 planting over 3,000 hectares of medicinal plants, including 500 hectares of yellow flower tea; allocated mainly in Luong Mong (90 ha); Minh Cam (50 ha); Dap Thanh (130 ha); Thanh Lam (50 ha); Thanh Son (120 ha); Don Dac (60 ha). Currently, the district has planted over 140 hectares, reaching 28.1% of the plan. Area for tea harvest reached 50 ha, for tea leaves was 60 ha.
In the flowering season, this year, Ba Che district will organize the second Yellow Flower Tea Festival 2018. At the festival, there will be many activities such as the OCOP Product Festival 2018; displaying yellow flower tea plants and other types; visit the yellow flower tea farm; take place the opening program of yellow flower tea; organize workshops to discuss solutions for tourism development in Ba Che district; announce the tourism route of the district and announce the result of designing the logo of Ba Che district contest. In addition, there are many activities of folk games and cuisine in the festival.
According to representatives of the local government, the Yellow Flower Tea Festival will continue to be maintained in the coming years to attract tourists to Ba Che, promote the brand name of yellow flower tea as well as cultural specialties of this locality.
Binh Lieu Camellia Oleifera Flower Festival – billions VND from visitors
Over the past three festivals, Binh Lieu Camellia Oleifera Flower Festival has really awakened the tourism potential of the land dubbed as the dinosaur back.
In the first 10 months of 2017, Binh Lieu attracted nearly 40,000 visitors, of which 5,089 visitors stayed overnight. Estimated revenue from tourism activities reached about 9 billion VND. This is an encouraging result for a mountainous border district when tourism is still a new economic sector.
The number of visitors to Binh Lieu flower season in December 2017 will also increase many times when the number of visitors coming to admire the flower and stay overnight will skyrocket.
Some visitors said that thanks to the activities such as the Flower Festival, the rice season of Binh Lieu … they knew about the land of Northeastern. And then, they suddenly discovered a paradise with fresh climate and unique native culture.
Not only stopping at an industrial plant to help people reduce poverty, the flower of Binh Lieu has added a new coat – a symbol of tourism in this land, as mentioning to the buckwheat flower in Ha Giang, mustard in Moc Chau or sunflower in Nghe An.
The People’s Committee of Binh Lieu district has also brought camellia oleifera to the master plan for tourism development in Binh Lieu district until 2020, with the orientation to 2030. There, camellia oleifera flowers and many other agricultural crops together with indigenous culture and efforts of local people and authorities will attract 54,000 people to Binh Lieu in 2020 with total tourism revenue reaching about 26.7 billion VND. By 2030, this number will increase to 650,000 people with total tourism revenue of about 554 billion VND, contributing 20.3% of the district GDP.
In the trend of new agricultural development, Quang Ninh pioneers in the field when discovering and exploiting tourism potentials from local agricultural crops in combination with branding and introducing cultural identity.
