Cai Chien is a very untouched island in Quang Ninh province, which recently became well known for attracting young people who love traveling to explore.
When so many northern tourists flock to Co To Island to cool off the summer, Cai Chien has become a new destination for peace lovers. Cai Chien is a beautiful small island in the area of Hai Ha district, Mong Cai city, Quang Ninh province.
Until now, this is still a pristine island, with long white sand beaches, green casuarina ranges. The island has an area of about 2,500 hectares, most of it is mountainous land, there are over 500 hectares of primary forest inhabited by many birds and wild animals.
How to get there
About 330 km from Hanoi, you have many options to come to Cai Chien. You can ride motorcycles through Vinh Tuy bridge, straight direction to Quang Ninh. On the journey, you can take advantage of the sightseeing time, cross Halong city to see Bai Chay bridge, Sun Wheel and the world recorded cable car across the sea…
Or you can easily take Mong Cai cars at My Dinh bus station with ticket prices ranging from 150,000 to 200,000 VND depending on the vehicle. Travel time is about 7-8 hours.
You get off at the intersection of Ha Coi bank, or Ha Coi bridgehead. There are two harbors for you to catch the boat to the island. If you stop at the intersection of Ha Coi, you have to rent a taxi or motorbike taxi to move into the port about 4 km away. If you get off at Ha Coi bridge, you can walk to the wharf about 10 minutes walk away.
Every day there are 3 times of ferries running at fixed time from the mainland to the island commune, and vice versa, at 6.30 a.m, 10.30 a.m and 4.30 p.m. In holidays, if the demand increases, the company will increase the trips.
Ticket price: For pedestrians, it is 20,000 VND/time, motorcycle ticket is 50,000 VND/time, the lowest price for car is 260,000 VND/time and the highest is 750,000 VND/time. Or you can go by canoe with continuous trips for about 50,000 VND/person/time, only 20 minutes you will arrive.
Out to the island, you can call the host has picked up, or rent a tram at the price of 100,000 to 150,000 VND depending on the number of people to go to the beach and visit the island. Then you can rent motorbikes for 150,000 VND/day to move.
Where to stay
At present, there are 3 beaches in the island: Van Ca, Cai Chien and Dau Rong beach. Cai Chien Beach and Dau Rong Beach are the most popular places to stay, because there are many homestay services, tent hiring and dining services. Tourist service on the island has not developed, only homestay, container house and tent.
For price, homestay price is 50,000 VND/person/day, container house is 350,000 VND/room/day, tent rent is 150,000 VND/day. However, on holidays or the weekend, the price may increase. You can choose according to economic conditions as well as preferences.
What to eat
In general, local food is cheap here, not as expensive as other islands. The local people can cook only about 50,000 VND/person/ meal.
Or you can buy seafood at the ships of people that is also relatively cheap. King crab type 1 is from 450,000 to 500,000 VND/kg, type 2 is about 400,000 VND/kg, sea snail is 200,000 VND/kg, island chicken is 250,000 VND/kg. All include processing costs. In addition, you can buy seafood and hold a barbecue party yourselves on the beach.
The people are very enthusiastic and friendly. Prices of other essentials such as beer, soft drinks, ice cream … are not much different than the mainland. However, you should still prepare food in advance.
What to do
Besides being immersed in clear sea water in the 3 beaches, Van Ca beach, Cai Chien beach and Dau Rong beach, there are many other interesting activities. In the Dau Rong section, in addition to the stretching beach, you can also take pictures with floating boats under the help of fishermen at no cost.
But as the tides are down and sand shores show up, you can move quite easily on the island. This move makes many people think of the sea route on Diep Son Island (Van Gia, Khanh Hoa).
In the Duoi Rong area, standing on the craggy pebble beach, looking out the scene, you will be overwhelmed by the majestic scenery here. Mountains rise in the sea to welcome the deep blue sky and the immense of the sea.
Right next to the beach is a cool pine forest, grassy plants with romantic love road, suitable for walking. Deep into the island is familiar rice fields. This is also a unique feature of Cai Chien compared to other islands.
